Been a long while!
July 14th, 2009Man, it’s been a bit since I’ve posted any type of blog! I have an excuse though… Kayla and I had our second son on May 27th and if you’ve had the joy of a newborn around the house you know you get NOTHING done. Now that Kade is 6 weeks Kayla and I had our first big night out. Here’s a preview of what we did. By the way, all of these images (for the techy peeps) were shot with a point and shoot Canon SD1000, street price, $180 (two years ago)! I would love to bring my camera into a high profile concert like this but if they said no I couldn’t see myself leaving it in the parking lot with the three guards on duty. By the way, even if you’re not a country music fan, Keith Urban puts on one helluva show!!!
Flickr & Vimeo
June 5th, 2009I’ve decided to go back to Flickr… why? It seems like a good idea to get more of my images out there. It’s so difficult to sift through images to put on the website. I need to do a flush and fill with new images but I have to find the time for that. In the meantime you’ll see links at the bottom left hand corner of my site that will lead you to my social networking sites. I’ve also put a Vimeo link to share my videos. I hope to have photography tutorial videos soon… just need to find someone to shoot them!
Enjoy!!!
Shave to Save – Amy Sorensen
May 24th, 2009So, a friend of Jess and Andy’s, Amy Sorensen, shaved her head for the American Cancer Society. Now, all of you ladies need to sit back for a second and reflect. . . Sink in? I thought Amy was nuts when she called me and told me she wanted to do a before and after shoot of her chopping her doo. I first thought of my wife… her hair is the most precious thing in her “attached to her body” world!!! And Amy was going to just shave hers off. Brave Woman! She raised $8,300 and… there it went, to the floor, well, actually to Locks of Love but you get it. So here are some awesome photos we took. I had a blast! Thanks for being so courageous Amy! I’m sure I speak for millions when I say, YOUR CRAZY!!! But the ACS and the world, is better off because of people like you.
iPhone Image of the Day
May 6th, 2009Tyler + Whitney
April 25th, 2009I had the pleasure of shooting engagement sessions for someone I’ve known for quite some time. Whitney is a friend of my sisters… I think I remember babysitting her at one point! It’s so weird, I get older and so does everyone else. Tyler is a wonderful man and he is heading to desert in September to serve our great country… Thanks bro, you’re a bigger man than I’ll ever be. I had a great time with both of you!!!

April 17th, 2009Local Lens Rental in Wichita, Kansas
April 16th, 2009Yes, that’s right… I’ve been renting lenses from Borrow Lenses online for quite sometime and now I can pick them up locally in Wichita! Matt Carr, opened his doors for biz last October and for all of us professionals and non-professionals, that’s a mighty good thing! If you’ve been wanting to try out that $2,000 lens but don’t wanna drop the coin visit Matt, he probably has it on his shelf for the fraction of the cost… the only kicker, you have to give it back! Check him out at MJ Lens Rental and go shoot with top notch glass for next to nothing!!!
Getting Back to Shooting
April 15th, 2009Sometimes I have to remind myself why I got into photography in the first place. Personally I hate the business side of my business but I have to feed my family… and, p.s., we’re adding another eating, screaming, pooping addition in just about 9 weeks!!!! Scary! Yesterday I took a stroll around our house, spring time is so gorgeous anyway, and took some shots of whatever I saw fit. It’s the darndest thing, shooting for myself, no pressure, no one expecting anything, it feels right! I really just want to remind all of you who are “Professionally” shooting, whatever that means anymore, to shoot, shoot, shoot! And every now and again bust out your old film cameras, dust them off and snap 24 frames to remind you that you are actually a photographer and not a digital robot!!!!
