Shave to Save - Amy Sorensen

May 24th, 2009

So, a friend of Jess and Andy’s, Amy Sorensen, shaved her head for the American Cancer Society. Now, all of you ladies need to sit back for a second and reflect. . . Sink in? I thought Amy was nuts when she called me and told me she wanted to do a before and after shoot of her chopping her doo. I first thought of my wife… her hair is the most precious thing in her “attached to her body” world!!! And Amy was going to just shave hers off. Brave Woman! She raised $8,300 and… there it went, to the floor, well, actually to Locks of Love but you get it. So here are some awesome photos we took. I had a blast! Thanks for being so courageous Amy! I’m sure I speak for millions when I say, YOUR CRAZY!!! But the ACS and the world, is better off because of people like you.

These shoes are unreal cool!  Kayla picked them up from Target for $11… gotta love that!  They were too cool to not share.

Canon 5D Mark II - High ISO Test

February 28th, 2009

Tonight Kayla went out with some girl friends, soooo, that left me home alone with Jace and Toe Nug.  Jace was standing against the couch eating a snack so I grabbed the camera to grab some candids.  If you’re unaware the 5D Mark II shoots up to 6400 ISO… and it does it well.  I took a few shots at 3200 ISO with just the light from the lamp on the end table.  The TV was on so that’s the reflection in the window.  Check out the clarity of this image at 3200 ISO…. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Another Outdoor Session

February 22nd, 2009

If you can’t tell from my previous posts I’ll let you in on a little secret, I LOVE MY LITTLE BOY!!!  But who doesn’t absolutely love their kids?  He’s so animated and photogenic, it’s hard not to bundle him up, let him release some energy and get some killer pics while we’re at it.  If you’re a parent and an aspiring photographer there is no better way to hone your photography skills than capturing great photos of a kid that won’t sit still.  If you can do that you’re on your way to being a great photographer!  Don’t give up and don’t get frustrated… if you find yourself getting frustrated put the camera down and run around with them :-)  Here are a couple of shots I got of Jace playing outside today.

The Wife, The Momma, The Model

February 10th, 2009

My wife, Kayla, is the sweetest woman on the planet, aside from my mother… of course!!!!!  Noone is as perfect as your mother.  So, I have an upcoming shoot for a local magazine and I’m doing some indoor lighting tests.  I know nothing about the location.  The only thing I know is the subjects name and that we’ll be shooting after dark.  Anyway, nothing special but she sure is the most beautiful woman I know!

Lunch time photo session…

February 9th, 2009

Just thought I’d share these images. He’s getting so old, dang!  Next thing you know we’ll be sending him off to college!

Oh BOY! It’s a Boy!!! Who knew?

January 28th, 2009

So it’s public knowledge if you’ve been around the Cary’s that we spawn boys…  It’s in our nature, and that’s what Kayla and I found to be true once again this morning.  Jace is confused… I’m sure in 4 months he will be far more confused than he is right now.  He’s asking himself questions like, “why are they making me sleep in this gigantic bed without bars?” “why don’t they let me have that sucky thing I referred to as, BUH, unless I’m going to sleep in that gigantic bed?” “what the H E double Hockey Sticks is going on here?, arrrrrggggggghhhhh” “what are they going to do next, make me go to the bathroom in that big white round thing I love throwing things in?”

Oh, you’re going to be a big brother.  How do you tell an 18 month old that news?  It’s proven to be quite the task.  Anyway, we love our boy and we’ll love our shiny new boy the same…  Kayla is waayyyyyyy out numbered now, mmuuuuwwwwaahhaahhaa!  Pinky to the mouth :-)

Jace - Christmas Portraits 2008

December 13th, 2008

So Jace is only 16 months old but we started a tradition last year of taking his photo in front of the Christmas tree.  Count them out… this is his second Christmas session! Yayyyyy.  So here is one of my absolute favorites.  I’m really stuck on this retro theme right now so bare with me, it’ll go away sooner or later.
